The Atrato River (Rio Atrato)

The Atrato River cuts through the Darien Gap, the rugged tropical jungle that straddles the border between Panama and Colombia. The Darien is a virtual no-man’s land, a buffer zone that connects two continents with rough, harsh topography and almost no civilization.

The Atrato’s waters are calm despite the surrounding jungle, and the river provides adventuring travelers safe passage through dangerous terrain.
