Managing Partners



Brian M. Reich, President

Brian is the President and founder of Atrato Advisors LLC. Prior to establishing Atrato, Brian held senior leadership roles in building and directing hedge fund research and advisory businesses within large institutional financial services firms.
Most recently, Brian was Director of Hedge Fund Research for Cantor Advisors LP, the asset management division of Cantor Fitzgerald & Company. He joined Cantor to start up and establish a hedge fund investment practice, and to build and develop an institutional research process and its supporting team. Prior to joining Cantor Fitzgerald, Brian was the Director and Global Head of Hedge Fund Research for Deutsche Bank’s Private Wealth Management division. At Deutsche Bank, Brian oversaw the construction, development, and manager selection for the bank's multi-billion dollar global open-architecture hedge fund advisory practice, and supervised a team of analysts in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.  Previously, Brian served as a Senior Research Analyst and Investment Committee member at Richcourt Fund Advisors, the fund-of-funds previously owned by The Citco Group. He also worked during business school at Salomon Smith Barney in the Derivatives Capital Markets group. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University (1996) and a Masters of Business Administration (2001) from the Stern School of Business at New York University. He also holds an NASD Series 66 license. Brian is fluent in Spanish. He is married with 2 children.



Janna Sobolev, Partner

Janna is a partner of Atrato Advisors LLC and merged her own consulting firm, Red Square LLC, into Atrato Advisors in February 2009. Prior to joining Atrato, Janna spent 11 years working in asset management and alternative investment businesses, with an emphasis on quantitative research, risk management, and asset allocation for private and institutional clients. Prior to founding Red Square, Janna led the risk management effort as a senior analyst at Gleacher Fund Advisors LLC. At Gleacher, she was solely responsible for all quantitative analysis and risk management for the firm’s portfolios, and was actively involved in all aspects of qualitative research for the funds’ holdings and potential investments. Prior to joining Gleacher, Janna worked at SAC Capital in its quantitative risk management group. At SAC, she was responsible for analyzing market, trading, and operational risk for prospective and existing portfolio managers on SAC’s platform. She also had portfolio-level risk management oversight of SAC's overall multi-strategy platform. Janna graduated magna cum laude from Baruch College (1998) with Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, while working full-time for Norilsk Nickel Corp. She earned a Masters of Business Administration from the Stern School of Business at New York University (2002) while working full-time as an associate in the Private Banking group with JP Morgan. She also holds an NASD Series 65 license. Janna is fluent in Russian. She is married with 2 children.

Michael Boensch, Director of Research

Michael joined Atrato Advisors LLC in October 2009 and leads the research and due diligence effort for the firm. He has 7 years of research experience, across consultant, family office, and fund-of-funds settings. Prior to joining Atrato, Michael was a senior analyst at Gleacher Fund Advisors LLC, where he performed qualitative and quantitative analysis on the entire range of hedge fund strategies, sectors, and geographies. Prior to working at Gleacher, Michael was an analyst with CSM Capital Management, a multi-family office which invested across traditional and alternative asset classes. Michael graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and German from Vanderbilt University (2005). He is a CFA charterholder, a CAIA Designee (2008) and holds an NASD Series 65 license. He is fluent in German..


Danny Santos, Analyst

Danny joined Atrato Advisors LLC in March 2010 and is responsible for operational due diligence, as well as supporting the firm's qualitative and quantitative research efforts. Prior to joining Atrato, Danny was Supervisor of Operations at Private Client Resources LLC, a specialty financial services reporting and data analytics firm. At PCR, Danny was responsible for pricing, reporting, reconciliation, and operational administration of private and institutional client accounts. Danny graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany. He is currently an MBA candidate at the Stern School of Business at New York University (expected graduation in January 2012). Danny is fluent in Portuguese.


Phil Heyer, Analyst

Phil joined Atrato Advisors LLC in November 2010 after a successful internship with the firm. He is responsible for quantitative and qualitative due dilience, data aggregation and analysis, and market research. Phil also interned during his undergraduate studies on the trading desk of Exis Capital Management, a long/short equity hedge fund. Phil graduated from Miami University's Richard T. Farmer School of Business in May 2010 with a BA in Economics.


Jasmin Huang, Intern

Jasmin joined Atrato Advisors LLC in September 2011. She is responsible for quantitative research, exposure tracking, and portfolio analytics. Jasmin has also completed internships at Goldman Sachs (Hong Kong), Bloomberg (NY), and the Bank of East Asia (Shanghai). Concurrent to her internship at Atrato, she is working towards completion of her Masters in Financial Engineering at Columbia University (expected graduation in December 2011). She holds double undergraduate degrees in International Economics and International Finance from University of Groningen (Netherlands) and Fudan University (Shanghai), respectively. Jasmin is fluent in Mandarin and Shanghainese.
