The Atrato River (El Rio Atrato)
The Atrato River cuts through the Darien Gap, the rugged tropical jungle that straddles the border between Panama and Colombia. The Darien is a virtual no-man's land, a buffer zone between two continents with rough, harsh terrain and very little civilization. The Atrato's waters are calm despite the surrounding jungle, and it provides adventuring travelers a safe passage across this dangerous ground.
